‘Batman vs. Superman’ is a comic book movie about Batman’s first appearance
Posted September 01, 2020 05:09:55With the announcement that “Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice” would star Ben Affleck, Warner Bros. finally has a superhero movie with which to tackle the idea of a superhero being born again.
That’s a big deal for DC, and it’s a huge deal for Affleck and Warner Bros., as “Batman” has long been the favorite movie of the studio’s most loyal fans.
It’s also a big thing for Afflecks co-starring, Henry Cavill.
The pair played the first Batman, Bruce Wayne, in the 1980s TV series “Batman: The Animated Series,” and the DC Comics hero had his first movie appearance in “Batman Vs.
Superman: Man of Steel” in March 2020.
The film’s production designer, Brian Michael Bendis, has been the man to make it happen for the two of them.
And in the first trailer released on Friday, the two looked to be making their way through a giant room in a large, dark room full of brightly lit screens.
Here’s what we know so far about “Batman”:Affleck is the son of a wealthy New York businessman, and he is the heir to a lucrative New York property, Gotham City’s Wayne Manor.
It’s a place where Batman, who is now the world’s most famous vigilante, and his rogues gallery of enemies live together in relative peace.
(Bendis has said that “the city of Gotham” is not meant to be a metaphor for Batman’s Gotham City.)
While “Batman v Superman” isn’t set in Gotham City, Affleck is in the thick of the action, as a young man with a mysterious past and a mysterious identity (Bruce Wayne) who is trying to use the same means to bring back the city that he used to destroy.
He’s also trying to keep his secret identity a secret from his father.
(The fact that the actor has been in the spotlight for a while is also a major plot point.)
“Batman” hits theaters on May 6, 2020, and “Batman Begins” hits in theaters on July 21, 2020.
